Portia Adade Williams

CSIR-STEPRI, Ghana

Dr. Portia Adade Williams works with Science and Technology Policy Research Institute of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR-STEPRI) in Ghana. She is a Research Scientist and Contributing Author (CA) for Chapter 09 (Africa Chapter) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 6th Assessment Report. Portia’s current research involves assessment of feasibility and effectiveness of climate adaptation options in Africa. This covers conducting multidimensional feasibility and effectiveness of adaptation options applicable to African region to inform further research, policy and practice while guiding responses to climate change that reduces risk. She is a member of the Global Adaptation Mapping Initiative (GAMI) and was a 20/20 Adaptation Professional’s Fellow at the Global Centre on Adaptation, Netherlands as well as a visiting research fellow with African Climate and Development Initiative (ACDI) of UCT under the Climate Impact Research Capacity and Leadership Enhancement (CIRCLE) Programme in Sub Saharan Africa. Her previous research extends climate impacts and adaptation, livelihood vulnerability, socioeconomic, agriculture and rural development studies, which is evident in her research publications. Portia is a member of the Organization of Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD).
