Malik is an Abuja-based researcher with the Regional Office for West Africa, the Sahel and the Lake Chad Basin at the Institute for Security Studies (ISS). A trained investigative journalist, he has worked for Leadership Newspapers and the International Centre for Investigative Reporting. Before joining the ISS, Malik worked as Field Communications Manager for Doctors Without Borders in Northeast Nigeria and as Conflict Researcher for Amnesty International. His research interests include the Boko Haram crisis, farmer-herder crisis, impact of armed conflict on children and the elderly, conflict economy, among others.
