Prof Lloyd M. Sachikonye attended Ahmadu Bello University graduating with a BA Hons in Government and History in 1978, an MSc in Political Science in 1981, and Leeds University, completing a PhD in Political Studies in 1989.
His research interests have revolved around Employment Policy, Labour and Industrial Relations; Governance and Electoral Studies; Civil Society and Democratization. More recently, he has developed interest in Conflict Management and Peace Building. Amongst his recent publications are the book award-winning Labour Unions and Party Politics: Labour Movements in Africa co-edited with Bjorn Beckman and SakhelaBuhlungu (Pretoria: HSRC, 2010); When the State turns on its Citizens (Johannesburg: Jacana Media 2011); Zimbabwe’s Lost Decade (Harare: Weaver Press, 2012), and a chapter on ‘Citizenship and Farmworkers’ in D. Kaulemu ( ed.) Imagining Citizenship in Zimbabwe (Harare: KAF and AFCAST, 2012).
