Jessica Banfield is an independent consultant focused on conflict prevention, peacebuilding and governance issues. She has worked closely with UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Africa on a number of assignments and is currently engaged in the Supporting Inclusive Transitions in Africa project as lead author of a forthcoming major study examining current trends. She also worked as Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding Specialist with UNDP’s Istanbul Regional Hub. Jessica spent many years working at different times for international peacebuilding NGO International Alert including as Director of Programmes, Africa Regional Manager and Uganda Country Manager. She holds an MA in International Studies and Diplomacy from the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies.
