Friederike Savatier

Intern

Friederike was an intern in ACCORD’s Mediation Division in 2021.

Before joining ACCORD, she obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree from McGill University, Montreal, Canada, with a major in Political Science and a minor in Psychology. Currently, she is pursuing her Master’s in International Studies with a concentration on African politics at the University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL).

In Portugal, Friederike is using the opportunity to perfect her Portuguese, a learning opportunity that she has thoroughly embraced. Her interest in peacebuilding and understanding the roots of conflicts started with an internship at the Biscke refugee camp in Hungary, where she was exposed to many conflict narratives. Furthermore, through her university experience and her time at ACCORD, she has grown interested in peacebuilding efforts (especially in African lusophone countries), high-level mediation, women, peace and security and counter-terrorism.

Friederike is an avid sport and nature-lover. When she is not working or studying, she spends her time in the ocean surfing.
