Barry M. Shapiro is Professor of History at Allegheny College in Meadville, PA. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles. After focusing and publishing on revolutionary justice and the impact of the emotional experience of revolution, especially with regard to the French Revolution, he has turned his attention in the past few years to a study of the South African transition to democracy.
