Azza Karam

Azza Karam is the Senior Advisor on Culture at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). She coordinates Fund-wide global activities on Culture and Religion.

She has also served as Senior Policy and Programme Advisor at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Special Advisor on the Muslim World and Director of the Women’s Programmes at the World Conference of Religions for Peace and Senior Program Officer at the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) in Stockholm, Sweden.

Azza Karam has authored and edited several books and numerous articles, including Transnational Political Islam; Islamisms, Women and the State; Women in Parliament: Beyond Numbers; and A Woman’s Place: Religions Women as Public Actors.
