Dr Andrea Prah holds BA and Master’s degrees in Politics and International Relations from Rhodes University, South Africa. She obtained her PhD in Internatinal Politics from Fudan University in Shanghai, China, as a recipient of a Chinese government scholarship. Her doctoral dissertation focused on African security cooperation in response to insurgencies in Western, Central and Eastern Africa.
Prior to joining ACCORD, Dr Prah worked in research positions at the Institute for Global Dialogue (associated with UNISA) and at PAN:Children, hosted by UNICEF and the Human Sciences Research Council. She has also completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at East China Normal University in Shanghai, China.
She has published in Horizons: Journal of International Relations and Sustainable Development, the African Security Review, African Journal on Conflict Resolution, South African Foreign Policy Volume 3, HSRC Review and InFocus. Her research interests include conflict analysis in Africa, security studies and de-colonial political theory.
