The ACCORD team in the Central African Republic continued with the series of capacity building activities in the Capital Bangui, OMBELLA M’POKO and LOBAYE provinces. A 3-day workshop with 40 women and young female leaders took place in the KEMO Province from 6 to 8 April 2021. The workshop was conducted in the conference room of the District Headquarters of Sibut District.
During her opening remarks, the Governor, Ms Lydie Georgette GAHORO SOULOU of the Province thanked ACCORD CAR Office for the invaluable technical support provided to CAR women and young female leaders in general and KEMO Province in particular and invited women and young female leaders to actively participate and fruitfully contribute towards the successful completion of the workshop. ACCORD CAR Office Coordinator who represented the Head of Mission, on behalf of ACCORD, thanked the Governor reiterated ACCORD CAR mandate to provide support to both women and young female leaders as well as to CAR Implementation bodies including the National Implementation Committee (CMON), the Prefectural Implementation Committees (CMOP).
The three day workshop covered a number of presentations on ACCORD, Consolidation of Peace, Women Empowerment, CAR Electoral Code, Strategic and Legal Framework with reference to gender balance in CAR. Following the 3 days, the ACCORD CAR Office Team proceeded to the establishment of women and young female leaders’ network for KEMO and the election of the bureau for a better coordination in the future, henceforth the Network for women and young female leaders was established and election was held to select 8 female representative constituting the Bureau the network.
During the opening and closing ceremonies, the Province of KEMO was represented by the Governor, the Vice Governor, the Mayor of SIBUT and the representative of the Ministry in charge of Women & Family Promotion and Child Protection in the Province who is also responsible for women and young female leaders in the area. ACCORD CAR Team was composed of the Office Coordinator and SPO.
