Ensuring that program expenditures provide value for money.

The Embassy of Ireland partnered with ACCORD, as a regional think tank, to contribute to the Mission’s 2022-2026 Strategy. This partnership was initiated in 2020 to support Conflict Prevention and Mitigation initiatives in Southern Africa. The main objective of this collaboration is to strengthen the ability of regional, national, and local actors in the region to effectively prevent and mitigate conflict.

In compliance with the Department of Foreign Affairs Standard Approach to Grant Management, the Embassy conducted a monitoring visit to ACCORD on the 11th and 12th of December 2023. The purpose of this visit was to validate systems, policies and processes to assess the efficacy of the programme.

To accomplish this, the Embassy Team was represented by Ms Muneinazvo Kujeke, Policy and Program Manager, and Ms Melody Mkumbuzi, the Systems and Audit Advisor, the ACCORD Team included Ms Karishma Rajoo, General Manager of Programmes, and Ms Sunitha Singh, General Manager of Finance and Administration, supported by the Finance Team and the Coordinator of Operations.

The visit provided the partners with a better understanding of the governance systems and financial management of the programme. ACCORD anticipates renewing this ongoing partnership programme with the Embassy into 2024.
