The African Union (AU) is hosting a Technical Experts Workshop, focussing on the Civilian Dimension of the African Standby Force (ASF), at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center (KAIPTC) from 29 August-1 September 2006 in Accra, Ghana.
This workshop forms part of a larger AU initiative to develop an African Standby Force that will considerably improve the AU’s capacity to undertake peace operations in future.
The workshop is being organised by the Peace Support Operations Division (PSOD) of the AU, with support from ACCORD’s Norwegian funded Training for Peace Programme (TfP). The workshop is also being conducted in association with the African Peace Support Training Association (APSTA), that will hold its Annual General Meeting at the KAIPTC on 28 August.
