ACCORD’s Training for Peace (TfP) Senior Programme Officer, Yvonne Kasumba, will be participating in a two day seminar entitled, “UN Multidimensional and Integrated Peace Operations – Trends and Challenges, Experiences from West Africa”.
The seminar will be hosted by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the South African Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Institute for Security Studies (ISS).
The seminar is part of a Project on Multidimensional and Integrated Peace Operations that was initiated by the Norwegian Government in 2006 to help further institute and support an integrated approach to the implementation of Security Council mandates. This builds on the work of the United Nations (UN) Integrated Missions study that was commissioned by the UN Executive Committee on Humanitarian Affairs (ECHA) in 2004. This project has entailed a series of seminars organized in various locations around the globe that have aimed to reflect on the progress made thus far and to gather the experiences of the many stakeholders that are involved in implementing the integrated mission concept. The seminar will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre from 20-21 September in Johannesburg, South Africa.
