The Japan International Cooperation Agency met with ACCORD to offer funding support for the construction of the APC.

On 15 April Norimasa Yoshida, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) NEPAD Advisor, visited ACCORD House to discuss ACCORD’s plans for the construction of the Africa Peace Centre (APC) in order to assist with identifying possible funding opportunities from Japan. During the visit Mr. Yoshida met with ACCORD Staff and visited the site for the APC on the Bluff Headland.

In 2004 the APC was identified by NEPAD as one of three NEPAD-approved proposals/projects. On the evening of the 15th Mr. Yoshida then had dinner with ACCORD Trustee and former Chairman of the NEPAD Steering Committee, Professor Wiseman Nkuhlu, who was in Durban ahead of ACCORD’s Trustee EXCOM meeting which was held on the 16th of April at ACCORD House.
