On 27 June 2017 the Founder and Executive Director of ACCORD, Dr Vasu Gounden, attended the 241^st Independence Day celebration held in Durban and co-hosted by the Charge d’ Affaires of the US Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa, Ms Jessica Lapenn, and the US Consul General in Durban, Ms Frances Chisholm.
