EU Director for Integrated Approach for Security and Peace, Africa division congratulates ACCORD and Centre for Human Dialogue for supporting CAR peace efforts

European Union’s Director the Integrated Approach for Peace and Security, Africa Division, Mr Tomat Stefano meets with ACCORD’s Head of its CAR programme, Ambassador Sebastien Ntahuga to discuss the implementation of the ACCORD-EU partnership, 07 October 2019, Bangui.

Highlighting a high level of coordination that has helped EU funding to directly contribute to the negotiations in Khartoum.

On 7 October 2019, ACCORD and the Centre for Human Dialogue (HD), as partner organisations both funded by the European Union (EU) in the Central African Republic (CAR), hosted the EU’s Director of the Integrated Approach for Peace and Security, Africa Division, Mr Tomat Stefano at ACCORD’s office in Bangui.

ACCORD and HD demonstrated strong collaboration and a high level of coordination that has helped EU funding to directly contribute to the negotiations in Khartoum that resulted in the Peace and Reconciliation in the Central African Republic (APPR-CAR) agreement in February 2019. Since the signing of the APPR-CAR, ACCORD and HD have supported the implementation processes and systems of the agreement. In this meeting, ACCORD demonstrated its strategy to continue its support that will focus on capacity and confidence building of the Government of CAR, the Regional Inter-Governmental Guarantors, and local and national stakeholders engaged in the implementation of the APPR-CAR.

Mr Tomat commended the good work of both organisation and said he would look forward to the continued partnership between ACCORD, HD and the EU in the CAR peace efforts.
