On March 21, ACCORD’s Executive Director, Dr. Vasu Gounden participated in the Peace One Day Anti-Racism Global Digital Experience.
As March 21 was earmarked as the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, Dr Gounden spoke from the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre which was chosen for its significance in being the venue where the Durban Declaration on Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance was adopted 20 years ago, in September of 2001.
Speaking at the Peace One Day event, Dr. Gounden spent his allotted session addressing anti-racism in the context of South Africa as well as sharing his personal experiences and giving insights on how stakeholders can work towards ensuring a more diverse, equal, inclusive, and just world.
