On 25 June 2021 the Founder and Executive Director of ACCORD, Dr Vasu Gounden, was invited to make a presentation as part of the Diplomatic Academy & International School’s Heads of Mission-Designate programme for ten participants, made up of former Ambassadors, senior public representatives and DIRCO officials.
The presentation focused on looking at the key indicators around the topic of Conflict Prevention, Management and Resolution on the African Continent. The purpose of the presentation was to familiarise participants with the types of conflict, their manifestations on the Continent, the response of the AU and implications for South Africa.
The Heads of Mission-Designates included those being posted to Algeria, Argentina, Cuba, Canada, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Hungary, Sri Lanka, Palestine and Tanzania.
Dr Gounden presented a similar presentation in October 2020. ACCORD has conducted training for South Africa’s Foreign Service Cadets and Heads of Missions since 1995.
