Outlining the work of the Commission and inviting members of the public to testify.

In November 2016 ACCORD’s Executive Director, Advocate Vasu Gounden, was appointed by the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, to serve on a Commission of Inquiry into Political Killings. On 29 March 2017 the Commission held its first Press Briefing, where the work of the Commission was outlined and members of the public, who are in possession of information which may be relevant to the matters to be inquired into by the Commission, and who wish to give evidence before the Commission, were invited to testify before the Commission. Please see attached the Press Statement that was released at the Press Briefing.

The Executive Director has previously served on two Committees which were established by the then Premier of KZN, The Honourable Senzo Mchunu: The Special Committee on Social Cohesion (2014) and the Special Reference Group on Migration and Community Integration in KZN (2015). ACCORD served as the Secretariat for both these Committees.
