ACCORD trains Burundian civil society in conflict management

ACCORD’s Burundi Programme held a conflict management training for civil society organisations in Burundi from 6-8 February in Bujumbura.

This training was facilitated by Jerome Sachane, Deputy Director of ACCORD and Adelin Hatungimana, Senior Progamme Officer at the Burundi Office and was officially opened by Vibeke Soegaard, Chief of Mission/Councillor of the Office of the Norwegian Embassy in Burundi and the Burundian Minister of Interior and Communal Development, H.E. Venant Kamana.

The training aimed to impart conflict management skills – such as conflict analysis, communication and negotiation – that will assist Burundian civil society to identify disputes, make an assessment and design appropriate responses before disputes develop into violent conflict. It was decided to conduct this specific training following various requests from civil society organisations in Burundi.
