ACCORD to conduct high level training in mediation

ACCORD’s Peacemaking Unit will conduct an Advanced Training in Mediation, in Durban, South Africa from 28–30 September 2010. The training is aimed at enhancing the quality and outcomes of African peace processes through advancing the skills of Mediation Process Experts (MPEs), deepening the understanding of the theory and practice of mediation, and building a core mediation team that can guide and advise mediation processes on the African continent.

Fourteen participants drawn from government departments and academic institutions in Botswana, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and Zambia will take part in the training. The high level participant profile includes senior government officials with mediation experience and academics who have in-depth knowledge of the field of conflict and peace studies and alternative dispute resolution methods.
