On 19 February 2009 Salomé van Jaarsveld, ACCORD’s Knowledge Production Officer, attended a symposium on Global Migration and its Impacts on Human Rights, Development and Security.
The objectives of the symposium were to explore international experiences and frameworks for effectively managing migration and its consequences. The event brought together policymakers, security professionals, academics, local and international experts on migration, and civil society formations. The two main sessions of the day focused on Asia (in particular Bangladesh and Indonesia) and Africa’s Great Lakes Region, West Africa and Southern Africa.
