ACCORD recognised for second year running as 5th most influential Think Tank in Sub-Sahara Africa

In January 2012 ACCORD was recognised, for a second year running, as the 5th most influential Think Tank in Sub Sahara Africa, in the annual “Global Go To Think Tanks” Report released by the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Programme at the University of Pennsylvania, USA. The ranking puts ACCORD 5th out of the top 30 Think Tanks in Sub-Sahara Africa. Overall 550 Think Tanks from Africa were included in the survey.

The 2011 Global Think Tank Rankings ranks the world’s top think tanks based on a worldwide survey of close to 1500 scholars, policy makers, journalists and regional and subject area experts. Expert Panels of over 793 expert members from around the world evaluated the nominations received on 6,545 think tanks worldwide.

“Over just six years the ‘Think Tank Index’ has become the authoritative source for the top public policy institutions in the world. This year the report enjoys a joint launch at the United Nations University (in New York) and the National Press Club in Washington, DC, (attended by) over 200 diplomats, foundations and think tanks…and upwards of 200 print and electronic media outlets featured the Reports finding.” (Global Think Tank Report)

It is an honour for ACCORD to receive this ranking for a second year running and a tribute to the work of ACCORD as it celebrates its 20th year of working towards peace on the Continent.
