ACCORD has been recognized as the 5th most influential Think Tank in Sub-Saharan Africa and amongst the top 75 worldwide in an influential annual survey.
The 2010 Global Think Tank Rankings is the first comprehensive ranking of the world’s top think tanks, based on a worldwide survey of close to 1500 scholars, policy makers, journalists and regional and subject area experts. A panel of over 250 experts from around the world nominated and selected public policy research centers of excellence from some 6480 think tanks in the world. This group of peers and experts then ranked regional or global centers of excellence that should be recognized for producing rigorous and relevant research, publications and programs.
Vasu Gounden, the founder and Executive Director of ACCORD said it was an honor to be recognized for the work ACCORD has been doing in Africa for the past 18 years, “Since 1992 ACCORD has supported Peace initiatives in 28 African countries and trained over 15000 people in conflict resolution skills. It is encouraging that we should receive this acknowledgement for our work with the African Union and United nations in support of peacemaking, peacekeeping and peace building on the continent”.
As an African non-governmental conflict management institution, ACCORD encourages and promotes the constructive resolution of disputes by the peoples of Africa to assist in achieving political stability, economic recovery and peaceful co-existence within just and democratic societies.
