On 19 February 2025 the Founder and Executive Director of ACCORD, Dr Vasu Gounden, was invited by the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat to present at their joint induction training and peer exchange of the SADC Electoral Advisory Council, the SADC Mediation Reference Group, and the SADC Electoral Commissions Forum. This event took place on 18th and 19th of February 2025 in Gauteng, South Africa.
Dr Gounden presented on the current political and security situation in the SADC region. ACCORD’s Senior Research, Dr Andrea Prah attended both days of the meeting.
In April 2022 ACCORD, in collaboration with SADC’s Mediation Support Unit held a High-Level Retreat and Mediation training for SADC’s Panel of Elders and Mediation Reference Group. Dr Gounden is a former member of the SADC Mediation Reference Group.
