The Training for Peace (TfP) Programme at ACCORD was recently invited by the British Peace Support Team (BPST) to deliver training modules for a Peace Support Operations Staff Officer’s course at the Malawian Armed Forces College (MAFCO). The two-week integrated (Civilian, Police, and Military personnel) Staff Officer’s course was for Officers that will be deployed to African Union (AU) or United Nations (UN) Peace Support Operations (PSO) on the continent.
Presenting at the Staff Officers Course is in line with ACCORD objectives of increasing African capacity for Peace Support Operations (PSO). Ms Kemi Ogunsanya, Senior Training Officer, and Mr Lamii M. Kromah, Programme Officer, had the great honour of delivering modules on Civil-Military Coordination (CIMIC) and ‘Mediation, Negotiation, and the Use of Interpreters’.
The course was held from 17 – 28 January 2011 in Salima, Malawi. The course participants were from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) member countries.
