On Tuesday, 25 June 2024, ACCORD hosted a delegation from the School of International Training (SIT). The delegation included 16 students, accompanied by Dr. Imraan Buccus, the Academic Director of the SIT Programme in South Africa. The SIT programme aims to prepare students to become culturally competent leaders, professionals, and citizens, fostering a global network committed to responsible global citizenship through field-based academic study abroad programmes for undergraduates, accredited master’s degrees, and certificate programmes for graduates and professionals.

ACCORD takes pride in creating spaces for young researchers and political enthusiasts to thrive. Several colleagues from the Programmes Unit and the Research Unit presented to the group on ACCORD’s work on the continent, including the work of ACCORD’s Research Unit, the Peace and Support Operations (PSO) cluster, and Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) with a specific emphasis on youth-related issues in South Africa.

During the visit, students raised thought-provoking questions and made insightful comments, deepening the conversation. The relationship between ACCORD and SIT has been mutually beneficial over the years, with several SIT students completing internships at ACCORD as part of their collaboration.
