ACCORD conducts CPPC course for ONUCI

The Training for Peace (TFP) Programme at ACCORD conducted its first specialised in mission Conflict Management for Peacekeepers and Peacebuilders for 2009 for the United Nations Operations for Cote d’Ivoire (UNOCI) from 25-27 February 2009 in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.

The course was aimed at assisting participants (comprising of mission staff as well as staff of the United Nations (UN) Country Team) to become more efficient conflict mitigators through a deeper understanding of the dynamics of conflict; and a better appreciation of how in, practical terms, the principles and techniques of negotiation and mediation can be applied to ameliorate conflict situations, particularly at the lower community levels.

The training contributed to intra-mission co-operation with the Civil Affairs section delivering presentation on Conflict Management as it relates to media professionals in the host community to the Public Information Section of the mission. The training also inspired the Civil Affairs Section to host Conflict Management training for local Governors in two separate locations in Cote d’Ivoire.
