ACCORD undertook a consultative visit to South Sudan – holding meetings with local academics, civil society organisations and government institutions.

The meetings with the various stakeholders, in different venues, gave insights into the different factors that are impacting on the country’s conflict and the initiatives that are being implemented currently by local and national actors. It also allowed ACCORD the opportunity to share with stakeholders the various peacemaking and peacebuilding projects it is involved in across the continent. The consultative discussions with CSOs, academics and representatives of government highlighted their experiences and lessons, and further explored ways and strategies to build-on existing initiatives and strengthen their role in preventing conflict through better understanding the local as well as traditional efforts that are already in place.
