Constructive dialogue and concerted action is required to develop a pragmatic, multifaceted response to the conflict in Sudan.

On 15-16 April 2024, a closed Forum on Sudan was convened in Berlin, drawing expertise from international stakeholders working in the field towards addressing the ongoing conflict in Sudan. Co-hosted by the Berghof Foundation, in collaboration with the Carter Center and ACCORD, the event aimed to foster a comprehensive approach to contribute to the Sudan peace process.

The conflict in Sudan is multifaceted and complex, with far-reaching implications for the country’s social, economic, and environmental well-being. The need for a comprehensive and inclusive approach to conflict resolution is required. Against this backdrop, the Forum served as a platform for constructive dialogue and concerted action to move beyond short-term fixes and to develop a pragmatic, multifaceted response to the conflict in Sudan.

The Forum brought together diverse stakeholders, including representatives from international organisations, governmental bodies, and civil society. Dr. Vasu Gounden, the Founder and Executive Director of ACCORD, along with Mr. Senzo Ngubane, ACCORD’s General Manager of Research, were among the participants.

ACCORD remains committed to seek lasting solutions to complex conflicts and its participation in this Forum was part of ACCORD’s ongoing contribution to the Sudan Peace Process.
