ACCORD and the African Peer Review Mechanism sign Memorandum of Understanding

On 02 September 2021, Professor Eddy Maloka, Chief Executive Officer of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) visited ACCORD House in Durban, South Africa.  

Prof. Maloka, accompanied by Adv. Batlokoa Makong, APRM Liaison Officer to the AU and Ms. Clementine Nyinawumuntu, Researcher at APRM Thematic Research and Coordination Division met with Dr Vasu Gounden, Executive Director and Founder of ACCORD, Mr Senzo Ngubane, General Manager for Research and Ms. Karishma Rajoo, General Manager for Programmes. 

The APRM and ACCORD, under the leadership of Prof. Maloka and Dr Gounden, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during this pivotal meeting. The MoU will all allow for the partners to collaborate on activities which promote their common objectives and initiatives. 

Dr Gounden presented ACCORD’s analysis and prognosis of conflict dynamics in Africa and delved into APRM’s strategy and activities on the Continent. Additionally, the two institutions developed a draft Programme of Action with timelines and deliverables to operationalize the MOU within the agreed areas of engagement. ACCORD is delighted to have hosted APRM and Prof Maloka and looks forward to collaborating on joint initiatives towards a peaceful Africa.
