The Gender Is My Agenda Campaign (GIMAC) in partnership with the African Union Commission (AUC) Women, Gender and Youth Directorate (AUC – WGYD) held the 8th Young Women’s Advocacy Training on 10 July 2022, in Lusaka, Zambia. ACCORD as a core partner, and Vice-Chair of GIMAC, participated in this training that was anchored on the theme: ‘Realising Women’s Human Capital through accelerated social and economic development, addressing the scourge of violence, and building resilience in nutrition on the African continent’.
This 8th Young Women’s Advocacy training was conducted on the margins of the 4th AU – Regional Economic Communities (RECs) coordination Summit and offered an opportunity for young people to understand how they can engage with the AU, the regional economic bodies, and development partners in matters affecting youth development in the continent. The training further allowed the youth and grassroots civil society actors to strategize on collaborations in order to strengthen their capacity to advocate for social economic development of youth across the continent.
ACCORD’s continues to enhancing the capacity of civil society actors, particularly women and young girls, to influence, participate, and lead peace processes in the implementation of post—conflict reconstruction initiatives in the area of food, peace and security.
