On 15 April 2025, ACCORD welcomed a delegation from the School of International Training (SIT), including five students from the Global Master of Arts in Diplomacy & International Relations programme, accompanied by Dr. Imraan Buccus, the Academic Director of the program in South Africa.
The visit focused on enhancing students’ intercultural competencies and fostering responsible global citizenship. ACCORD staff presented their work in various clusters, including Peace Support Operations and Local and National Capacities for Peace, and outlined the organisation’s five Strategic Pillars. Ms. Ashley Morefield, the Political/Economic Officer of the U.S. Consulate General in Durban, also spoke to the delegation.
Students engaged actively, raising insightful questions about ACCORD’s impact measurement, its role in Rwanda’s Gacaca system, and peace initiatives in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The long-standing relationship between ACCORD and SIT has allowed for valuable internship opportunities over the years, benefiting both organisations in their shared mission of promoting peace and international understanding.
