ACCORD hosted a meeting with a delegation from the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) on 20 October 2023 at ACCORD House, in Durban. The purpose of the meeting was to engage with USIP on BRICS+ approaches to mediation and peacebuilding from a South African perspective.
The USIP’s inclusive peace processes team engaged with ACCORD as a key civil society organisation in the mediation and peacebuilding space, in order to gain more insights, including learning from ACCORD’s mediation experience and practice in different conflicts in Africa.
Ambassador Welile Nhlapo, Senior Advisor at ACCORD, and Mr Senzo Ngubane, General Manager of Research provided thematic expertise and insights based on their experience in mediation practices and research in the field. The meeting aligned with ACCORD’s strategic objective to contribute evidence based analysis, policy support and knowledge to respond to complex conflicts.
