The African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) invited ACCORD to attend its Sensitisation Mission to the Kingdom of Lesotho from 27 June to 1 July 2022. The objective of the Mission was for the APRM to re-engage Lesotho and revive the APRM processes in the Kingdom. ACCORD was represented on the Mission by Mr Senzo Ngubane, General Manager for Research.
Among other engagements, the APRM Mission hosted a media training, a stakeholders seminar on APRM, as well as held discussions with various representatives of the government of the Kingdom of Lesotho as part of reviving the APRM process in the country. Mr Ngubane presented on during two sessions, reflecting, on the crisis on governance and political instability in Africa; and on the importance of national structures in the APRM process.
The purpose of the Mission was to re-energise and re-engage the APRM national structures in the Kingdom. These structures are necessary for the self-evaluation process, which is in turn required for a successful peer review process.
ACCORD’s participation during this Mission was part of the implementation of the existing strategic partnership with the APRM.
