ACCORD’s Founder and Executive Director, Dr Vasu Gounden, Ambassador Said Djinnit, Senior Political Advisor at ACCORD, General Manager of Research, Mr Senzo Ngubane attended the African Peer Review Mechanism’s (APRM) Consultative Meeting on the development of the African Governance Report (AGR) 2023. This meeting was a hybrid event, with the physical gathering taking place in Cape Town, South Africa from 25-26 March 2022. Dr Gounden and Ambassador Djinnit attended the event virtually, while Mr Ngubane was physically present in Cape Town.
APRM Chief Executive Officer, Prof Eddy Maloka, the Acting Head of the African Governance Architecture (AGA) Secretariat, Ambassador Salah Siddig Hammad, and Ms Lindiwe Khumalo were amongst those who attended the event and provided key contributions to the meeting. Dr Gounden and Ambassador Djinnit, provided their inputs on the topics of Unconstitutional Changes of Government (UCGs) in Africa and its impacts on peace and stability in Africa.
The key outcomes and recommendations of the AGR 2021 were discussed prior to outlining the scope of work for the AGR 2023, which will focus on UCGs in Africa. This planning session included deliberations on the methodology and the co-ordination necessary to produce the AGR 2023.
Through this strategic partnership with the APRM, ACCORD looks forward to supporting the development and production of the AGR 2023.
