The Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict will be holding the Southern Africa Regional Steering Group Meeting (RSG): “Civil Society & Government Partnerships in Conflict Prevention: Perspectives from Southern Africa” which will be held at the Burgers Park Hotel in Pretoria, South Africa on the 11 & 12 May 2006.
The GPPAC RSG meeting will be the second meeting in Southern Africa with the objective of undertaking an overview of the process post the regions successful participation in the GPPAC Global Conference (http://gppac.net) in New York in July 2005.
The specific aims for the meeting include discussion and adoption of an implementation strategy for the Southern African Regional Action Agenda (RAA). The second aim would be chart ways in which the regional partnership will meet its objectives for the next four years (2006-2010). It is the regions hope that the meeting will facilitate the broader enhancement network in Southern Africa.
The RSG meeting will be hosted by the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes. Please find a draft agenda for the meeting that has been informed by the Southern Africa Regional Action Agenda and International Steering Group meetings. The meeting will be funded by the Austrian Developments Cooperation.
