Rob Davies retired in 2019 after serving for a decade as South Africa’s Minister of Trade and Industry. He was elected as a Member of Parliament in the first democratic election in 1994. Before that he held professorship at the University of the Western Cape and was professor auxiliar at Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo, Mozambique between 1979 and 1990. Rob Davies holds a doctorate from the University of Sussex. His most recent book, Towards a New Deal: A Political Economy of the Times of my Life, was published by Jonathan Ball in 2021.
