Daniel Akech Thiong

Daniel Akech Thiong, is a third-year Ph.D. student at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences at Claremont Graduate University with research in mathematical analysis, has published extensively both in academia and policy domains on topics related to the political economy of public authority as it relates to violence in South Sudan. He is the author of the upcoming book, The Politics of Fear in South Sudan: Generating Chaos, Creating Conflict (Bloomsbury, May 2021). He founded the Walking Buildings – a South Sudan-based non-profit organization that seeks to invest in walking buildings (as opposed to still buildings) empowering youth with education and STEM in South Sudan, which has sponsored over 350 high school South Sudanese (and Nuba Mountains) refugee students in Kenya.
