Oslo Capstone Doctrine Seminar

The Peacekeeping Best Practices Section of the United Nations (UN) Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) and the Training for Peace (TfP) Programme at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) will be hosting a seminar on the DPKO Capstone Doctrine from 14-15 May in Oslo, Norway.

The Capstone Doctrine was released by the DPKO towards the end of 2007 and it represents the first time in the UN’s history that there is a doctrine that defines and outlines the UN’s approach to peacekeeping operations. The seminar will be attended by a globally representative group of researchers and practitioners specialising in this field and they will have an opportunity to discuss the new doctrine with the drafters thereof with an aim of getting to a better understanding of the intent, context and implications of the new doctrine. The seminar will be attended by the TfP/ACCORD Programme Advisor, Mr Cedric de Coning, as well as the TfP/ACCORD Senior Programme Officer, Ms Yvonne Kasumba.
