On 14 July 2017 the Founder and Executive Director, Dr Vasu Gounden, was invited to be a resource person at the South African Council on International Relations (SACOIR) “Africa World” Working Group seminar. The seminar aimed to examine and assess South Africa’s current place, role and standing in Africa. Two subsequent seminars will be held to look at South Africa’s will and capacity to lead Africa’s renewal in governance, development and security, in order to recommend appropriate steps to decision-makers in government and the non-State sector.
In 2015 Dr Gounden was appointed by the South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation to serve on SACOIR, which aims to i) provide a platform for the generation of public debate on foreign policy and gro-political shifts impacting on the conduct of international relations; ii) to provide a frank and non-partisan assessment on the formulation and implementation of South Africa’s foreign policy; and iii) to identify key emerging trends. Dr Gounden is also a member of the Africa World Working Group.
