ACCORD's Burundi Intervention hosts workshop to prepare Burundian stakeholders to manage election-related violence.

ACCORD’s Burundi Intervention will conduct a dialogue session for local civil society organisations and security forces as part of a series of initiatives to contribute to peace efforts in Burundi before, during and after the May to September 2010 elections.

Burundi’s history shows that conflict challenges usually emerge soon after the post-electoral period. The dialogue session from 29-31 March 2010 in Gitega, Burundi will focus on strategies for safeguarding peace and managing violence in the post-electoral period. Participants will be drawn from the Central and Eastern provinces (Cankuzo, Karuzi, Gitega and Ruyigi) of Burundi.

The session will be facilitated by ACCORD trainer, Ms Kemi Ogunsanya, and ACCORD Senior Programme Officer, Mr Adelin Hatungimana. The session has been generously funded by the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
