In this role, she is responsible for coordinating research activities, and the production and dissemination of high quality publications. She also contributes to ACCORD's regional liaison activities related to the institution's collaboration with the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC).

Petronella joined ACCORD in July 2012. She has an MA in Journalism and Media Studies from Rhodes University (South Africa), a BSc. (Honours) Sociology degree with a focus on gender and family studies from the University of Zimbabwe, and a Diploma in Personnel Management from the Institute of Personnel Management in Zimbabwe.

Prior to joining ACCORD, Petronella worked for the Southern Africa HIV and AIDS Information Dissemination Service (SAfAIDS) at the regional offices in Pretoria and Harare in programme management, content development, editing, good practice/success story documentation and training roles. Petronella has done advocacy and visibility-raising work around the ratification and implementation of the SADC Protocol on Gender and Development (2008) as a member of the SADC Gender Protocol Alliance. She wrote the sexual and reproductive health, and HIV chapters of the SADC Gender Barometer 2011 which tracks governments' progress towards meeting the 28 targets of the Protocol by 2015.

Petronella looks forward to contributing to the work at ACCORD and to learning more about the intersections among women's empowerment programmes, sexual violence and sexual and reproductive health delivery in situations of conflict.
