John Ahere

Coordinator: Peacebuilding Unit

John Ahere was the Coordinator of the Peacebuilding Unit at ACCORD. He led the coordination of the Operational Design and Planning for the Unit. He also coordinated the outputs and oversees the implementation of activities within the Unit. Among others, he was also tasked with Personnel and Financial Management of the Unit.

John holds an MA in International Studies and a BA (Hons) in Political Science and Sociology both obtained from the University of Nairobi in Kenya in 2011 and 2005 respectively. He also obtained in 2009, a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management from the Kenya Institute of Management. For more than a decade, John oversaw the management of different conflict transformation projects in Africa with notable grassroots focus on cross-border dialogue/confidence building projects in Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Uganda and Kenya. He has also over the years supported the work of the African Union, Regional Economic Communities/Regional Mechanisms and published topical papers on peace, security, development and international relations. His book The Paradox that is Diplomatic Recognition: Unpacking the Somaliland Situation was published by Anchor Academic Publishing.
