The Executive Director of ACCORD, Vasu Gounden, was invited to be a resource person at the 'Second Africa Governance, Leadership and Management Convention', hosted by the Kenya Institute of Management and the Africa Leadership Forum from 2-5 August 2011 in Mombasa, Kenya.

The convention was conceived as a private sector-driven initiative to generate dialogue among key private sector players, while at the same time giving the private sector on the continent a forum in which it can collectively dialogue with public sector leaders and policy makers on key issues in governance, leadership and management on the continent. The Mombasa convention was built around the theme of Africa claiming the second decade of the 21st century.

Gounden was asked to lead the discussion on the topic 'African Traditional Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding vs Modern Conflict Resolutions Methods in Perspective', highlighting the critical success factors in the deployment of alternation dispute resolution mechanism in Africa and how modern conflict resolution may consolidate and benefit from these mechanisms. The presentation formed part of the Session focusing on Governance, Conflict Management and Nation Building in Africa that was chaired by former President Thabo Mbeki.
