ACCORD’s Training for Peace (TfP) Senior Programme Officer, Mrs Karishma Rajoo, participated in the United Nations (UN) Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) Training Development Workshop on Gender Equality in Peacekeeping in Windhoek, Namibia, from 30 June-4 July.

The aim of the workshop was to review for effectiveness, currency, accuracy and user-friendliness of the existing and newly developed training materials and practical tools on gender equality and gender mainstreaming in peacekeeping.

In reviewing these materials, the workshop sought to draw and build on the Standardized Generic Training Module (SGTM 17 – Gender Equality) and other relevant training materials, in order to develop comprehensive modules. The workshop was significant for the Training for Peace Programme courses in highlighting the importance of gender mainstreaming in peacekeeping and peacebuilding operations.
